September/October 2010: The Echelon Club is very excited to organize it's first Echelon Safari field trip to the Shamballa Preserve. Shambala is maintained by the Roar Foundation, founded by actress Tippi Hedren noted for her starring roles in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and "Marnie". The Foundation cares for over 60 endangered exotic big cats such as African lions, Siberian tigers and Bengal tigers, leopards, servals, mountain lions, bobcats, plus a lynx, a Florida panther, and a liger. Most of the animals at Shambala were either born in captivity, orphans or no longer wanted at circuses, zoos or are given up by private owners who could no longer care for them. Their mission is to provide sanctuary for exotic animals who have suffered from gross mistreatment and neglect so they can regain their physical and mental health and live out their lives in dignity. Here we will learn more about the Shamballa Preserve with a brief presentation on the organization hosted by Tippi Hedren and chris Gallucci also known as "The Elephant Man, then followed by a safari tour and outdoor lunch prepared by celebrity chef Jack Lee! "Rock the Kasbah Ball", an unforgettable red carpet event honoring Eve Branson for her tireless and extensive work in Morocco. Eve has provided financial, educational and medical assistance to innumerable Moroccans in need. The proceeds raised from the event will help to build a school in the Atlas Mountains. Funds will also go toward building workrooms and providing vocational supplies and instruction in three villages neighboring Kasbah Tamadot. The event will benefit "The Virgin Unite's Eve Branson- Moroccan Fund", hosted by Sir Richard Branson and acclaimed actress Mariel Hemingway.
